While I, myself am Irish to some extent, my hubby is not so we're havin' sketti for supper but I did get to watch "The Quiet Man"

A good friend got a good job after being laid off, another good friend got to hire help he desperately needed and yet a third has been out of work long enough to be frantic. We have 2 friends who are pregnant and another who is working on acquiring custody of a little one whom she just loves. There are 2 we care about who have had some bad breaks in their love lives and a family member's upcoming wedding. (In Hawaii, no less) One good friend cleared of cancer and a family member who was confirmed with an aggressive type. Lots to be happy about, lots to pray about, lots to do in any case. I guess those are the three leaves of my shamrock... happy, sad, and busy. Wish me Luck!

Update on the 'new' pooch

I realize that this will come as an enormous shock to everyone but he's staying. We were at the vets today. Dr. P checked and didn't find any micro chip or anything that indicates an owner. Blue ticks can be a pretty expensive dog so finding one stray in such bad shape is kind of rare. We found out that he has: hookworm -------- pretty ferocious case fibroid tumors-----harmless infected gums------not bad a heart murmur----never harmless but not bad Heartworm --------dun dun duuunnnnnn (dramatic scary music) He's also nearly deaf and about 10 years old which is getting to be an old man for this breed. I don't feel right taking him to a shelter so sick and so contagious. Fortunately, the heartworm is a "light" case. We could put him on the aggressive arsenic treatment but it's dangerous and expensive. We lost one dog that way already. Fortunately, the vet said that if we just keep on the tri -heart brand preventative heartworm pills for a year, it'll...

Happy Belated Birthday to me

My get together last night went very well. My birthday present from my beloved Hubby is on its way this week. My present to myself of my favorite author's latest is also on its way maybe today. My house is so clean it's painful. It's raining so I can't go out and do the few little things I have to do out there. Last but certainly not least, it's too cold to go down and organize the basement shelves (that's my story and I'm sticking to it) so, I think I'll make myself a honking big cup of hot chocolate and curl up in a quilt and watch reruns. Happy lazy birthday present to myself. Oh, and look at the gorgeous petunias on my porch!

End of Summer

And, now I'm done with the family reunions and my rained out August Party and an additional fair at which I lost my cell phone. (very cool fair, btw http://www.canfieldfair.com/index.html ) Plus, we replaced the stairway in the church and I get to paint the new steps, we have a hayride, civil war re-enactment to attend and projects to finish.. so much for sleeping thru september.
